Test- tube studies suggest that tea tree oil kills some bacteria and fungi. A few small human studies have found that various concentrations of it helped reduce mild acne , athlete’ s foot , and toenail fungus. But more research is needed to establish those benefits. Even if the oil works, you’ d have to apply it daily for a month and a half (for acne) to six months (for toenail fungus). Don’ t drink tea tree oil; that may cause confusion, disorientation, and even coma.

Be very careful buying shoes whenfeet are swollen. How are they going to fit in the morning? My experience is they'll be big. If a shoe is fit properly, there will be enough room for normal swelling. Some people might have excessive swelling problems, but this is another matter. If you have shoes on all day and take them off, your foot puffs abnormally. How wide is your thumb? The difference in 1 full size to the next is exactly 1/3 inch. The thumb rule only works for childrens better grade shoe fitting as the shoes are built to fit this way, adult shoes are not. If you fit the shoes correctly from the heel to the ball-joint, you will have proper toe room. Pay attention to the depth of the shoe at toe and instep area. Differences here can determine adequate toe room. Remember large shoes will feel great, but will eventually cause your foot to move around too much inside the shoe and in many cases cause your foot to slide too far forward. Firm soles and soft uppers are good but be careful of too soft at counter area. This is the back part or heel of shoe. This area should have a firm counter piece to stabilize your heel at impact. The key to comfort and foot health is at the heel when the foot impacts the ground. If your foot does not pronate properly, it will be out of allignment and could easily have a negative effect in your knee, hip, or back not to mention the foot itself. Always remember, 70% of foot problems are directly attributable to footwear.
