How to become a Vegas Showgirl

October 23 , 2009 In: Accessory, Fashion Guide & Tips, Fashion Trends

All of the big Las Vegas casinos put on shows to attract crowds to the casino, and instead of hiring new dancers every time the change the show, they hire full time dancers and these girls are called Showgirls.

If you have ever thought about putting elaborate costumes and dancing in front of crowds every night, then becoming a Vegas Showgirl may be the job for you.

Being a Vegas Showgirl is not an easy job. You must be in top physical condition if you expect to be a professional dancer, and it is important to remember that not everyone will make it, becoming a professional dancer is a roll of the dice, you have better odds of winning an Online Craps game then making it as a dancer.

There are several things you can do to help improve your chances of getting your carrier as a Las Vegas Casino dancer started:

Dance lessons, if you want to be a professional dancer you have to learn several different styles of dance, and dance them all well. This may be the hardest part to becoming a dancer. This part will take many years and require you to spend several hours a day every day taking dancing lessons.

Physical Conditioning, dancing requires lots of endurance and stamina. Besides the workouts you will get from all the dancing lessons you will take you will also need to work out on your own regularly. These workouts should include aerobic and some weight training.

Weight training should not be done to build muscle mass only for building strength and muscle toning. The best way to do this is by doing high repetition counts of low weights. This method will make the existing muscles stronger but will not bulk you up.

Montreal Fashion Week Highlights

October 20 , 2009 In: Fashion Guide & Tips, Fashion Trends

The Marché Bonsecours overflowed with Montreal’s fashion crowd who teetered in high-heels over St-Paul Street’s cobblestones to take in three days of Montreal Fashion Week.

On day one, Andy Thê-Anh’s “cocktail” presentation unraveled more like a schmoozy happy hour social than a spring and summer preview. Latecomers tiptoed to catch glimpses of the central stage that doubled as a mini-runway while P&G Beauty reps (in coral mini-togas) served skincare samples on trays like canapés. Known for his sophistication and architectural details, Thê-Anh’s show sparkled (even from a distance) with various shades and intensities of blue paired with neutral white and black.

Later that evening, hockey fans applauded Alexei Kovalev, the ex-Montreal Canadien who took time off from his new team in Ottawa to make a comeback appearance at Envers by Yves Jean Lacasse and Tatyana Parfionova in a white gangster-striped suit with an XL black lapel and silk scarf. Proceeds from their collaboration will benefit the Kovalev and Friends Foundation for Kids.

The next day at Eve Gravel, the fashion vet of 15 years started her show somewhat backwards, opening (instead of ending) the show, with a perky bride in a mini-dress. The collection proceeded with a fresh hippie-meets-Hamptons look then, suddenly, took a 180-degree turn back to urbanite Manhattan with ’80s-inspired black boleros over leather pencil skirts, floral patchwork skirts and flat Doc Martin-ish boots.

Actress Karine Vanasse (who recently produced and starred in the controversial film Polytechnique) added some star power at Soia & Kyo, bouncing her petite frame up and down the runway to France Gall’s “Laisse tomber les filles”–and looking good in short shorts, we might add. An exuberant collection of sporty separates with lots of the jackets Montreal girls adore, including fitted biker jackets, short trench coats and grey leather crops accented with nerdy glasses, preppy Keds runners and white Bobby socks paired with four-inch platforms.

Throughout the year, at movie premiers and fashion weeks, and at an array of special events, the stars of the entertainment industry pose for the camera in their couture best, providing ample material for gossip rags and critical onlookers who love to assess just who was best-dressed. But it’s not too common to focus the attention on teens and younger adults, which might seem a bit odd on the first pass as a growing number of stars are starting their professional careers at a younger age, and many modern style sensibilities are geared towards a younger market.

But the Teen Choice Awards is a venue that’s naturally given to attract younger stars, with emerging talents and established starlets making the rounds among a wider attendance that includes many entertainment industry staples. At the most recent incarnation of this annual event, a number of young women stole the show in fashion-forward dresses that served as the perfect highlights for a perfect sun-lit California afternoon. Among those honored at the ceremony, “Heroes” actress Hayden Panettiere generated a fair dose of gossip power with her whisper pink ensemble, which included a ruched dress and subtle yet sexy shoes off-setting a relaxed yet classic hairstyle and neutral makeup.

Designer Shoes For Fall 2009

October 2 , 2009 In: Fashion Guide & Tips, Fashion Trends, Shoes/Boots

I love pumps and sling backs. I don’t know why, perhaps because they go with my 9-5 business fashion as well as with my “after 5″ fun fashion. I love dressing up a pair of jeans with pumps.

It’s finally Fall gals, and the designers are starting to show their offerings. There are a lot of fabulous high end designer shoes to choose and some are absolutely to-die-for! Prada is offering a fantastic bronze pump for fall. This pump has a 3 inch heel and a perforated leather on the toe cap and the back of the shoe. The vamp and body of the shoe are actually covered with bronze paillettes (sequins) that mimic a lovely snake skin design. It’s gorgeous, and so in demand that some stores are limiting the number you can order!!

Fashion History and Evolution: The Sexy Thong

September 22 , 2009 In: Fashion Trends, Lingerie, Underwear

To understand how the evolution of the thong, we need to go all the back to the loincloth. The loincloth, worn thousands of years ago is likely to be the first undergarment worn by humans and it evolved into the thong over the years. Ironically, it was first worn by men in ancient times before it evolved into part of women’s lingerie in modern times. The Egyptians were one of the earliest people to wear this thong-like clothing. The earliest loincloths were made of leather and this was used until the introduction of fabric much later on. The famous King Tutankhamun was found buried with more than a hundred loincloths in his tomb.

The Gold Standards of Looking Great

September 19 , 2009 In: Fashion Guide & Tips, Fashion Trends, Makeup

We do not know how other people perceive us. In the extremes, this can breed self-consciousness, or it can breed cockiness. Neither warrants much praise. Think about it. Looks, in the abstract sense, will make a significant impact on a person’s outlook in life, more than they would like to admit. If people truly perceive a person as looking great, then what harm is done?
